The Last Duel
History in Perth

Stories and locations woven together by a tragic historical duel.

As your guide pedals your buggy along the streets of heritage Perth you will hear the voices of James Boulton and Daniel McMartin and you will pass by their homes that still exist to this day. You will hear these two prominent lawyers engage in a very public feud that will set the stage for two young students of law, Robert Lyon and John Wilson, to settle a dispute of honour over a young lady, Elizabeth Hughes, in mortal combat on a field by the Tay River.

The tour will take in Daniel McMartin’s house, Thomas Radenhurst’s house Inge-va, Summit House, the home of John Boulton, the courthouse and jail, Last Duel park and Robert Lyon’s grave in the old burial ground. The tour will conclude outside the Perth Museum where the duelling pistols are on display.
